The Significance Of Breast Cancer - 1022 Words

The Importance of Breast Cancer Breast cancer is a serious disease that takes place in the cells of the breast. It is detected in many things, such as finding a lump or a change in how the breast looks. It is important to know how breast cancer works and the many parts that contribute to the knowledge of the disease. Famous actress Angelina Jolie brought breast cancer into the spotlight when she decided to get a double mastectomy. In the article â€Å"The Angelina Effect† that came from Times magazine, she reveals her reasons for getting the surgery, which was received with much controversy and mixed opinions. In this following paper, the genes that contribute to breast cancer, genetic testing, breast cancer being passed down, and Angelina†¦show more content†¦It increases the risk of causing cancer in the cells. Tumor-suppressor genes makes sure that a cell does not stray away towards cancer. The protein from the tumor-suppressor gene keeps the cell division under control. When the gene gets mutate d, it is a huge problem because the cell is no longer protected. It will likely become cancerous. These mutations cause the cell to start dividing uncontrollably and therefore makes the risk of getting breast cancer much higher. The potential risk of getting breast cancer increases when the women of someone s family has it. It is thought that a 5 to 10 percentage of breast cancer forms can be passed down from the parent to the child (â€Å"Genetics,† 2016). This is due to certain genes in the body being anomalous. There are particular bits of chromosomes that actually do contribute to higher risk of breast cancer when these chromosomes are mutated. They are called single nucleotide polymorphisms, abbreviated as SNPs. If a mutated SNPs is associated with an anomalous BRAC1 gene, it brings the concern of developing the disease to very high. On the other hand, being a carrier of the BRAC1 or BRAC2 gene does not mean someone will get it in their lifespan. The carrier genes are am biguous; and scientific inquiries on how these genes affect the body are still being observed. BRCA genetic testing is a blood test; checking for anything that is off about BRAC1 and BRAC2 genes using DNA from a blood sample

In 1915, Faltenhayn had planned to be defensive in the west, but decided to be offensive near Ypres. This is what caused the 2nd battle of Ypres. He wanted to pre-empt any coming Franco British attack in the west (Duputy 217). This means that Faltenhayn wanted to attack the Allied troops before they attacked Germany. In the battle the Germans attacked with artillery, after the attack was done the Allied troops waited for Germany‘s first wave but Germany surprised the allied troops by doing something totally unexpected. Poison gas was used by the Germans in this battle against the Allied troops. Faltenhayn agreed to use poison gas in the attack even though in 1907 Germany signed a treaty forbidding the use of poison gas. The German army filled poison gas into canisters and brought it to the front line. If the wind was heading in the right direction they would open the canisters and the gas would drift across no-man’s land to the Allied troops. But the allied troops decided to fire artillery to the front line of Germany so the canisters would break and the Germans would die (Duputy 218). Germany used the poison gas against two French colonial divisions, which caused the French army to run away. Canadians were not affected by the poison gas because they used wet (with water) cotton bandoliers to cover their mouths and noses so they counter-attacked on the same day, which made a good reputation for the Canadian army. â€Å"On April 22nd 1915, the 1st Canadian Division has just arrived at the front which was located just outside the city of Ypres, near Belgium. Here they achieved recognition for holding their ground against the new weapon of choice in modern warfare known as chlorine gas†. Youth today free essay sample

Youth is where I find myself right here and now. Thats according to the social media and older people the worst generation to be in, because they believe that youth, are rude and ill-mannered that we only think about ourselves, party and the having fun. I do not totally agree, of course I try to enjoy every minute of life and have fun, but also provide concurrently to take care of my school, work, and family and build a future for myself. This is the impression I also have of youth in the others big countries we here about around the world, as America and Britain. Two totally different views between the youth and those outside of the youth generation, as example our grandparents and the people as talks about it in the media. The social media run youth up to a much bigger problem than it really are. The young people do well and doesnt make big problems on their way, some do maybe, but its a small number, and the media only looks at those and just judge the rest young people from what they have seen. We will write a custom essay sample on Youth today or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Thats not fair, because many young people behave just as nicely as the adults. Sometimes there so much focus on youth, that the adults can hind behind them. These older who judge the young people do not think about always whomsoever responsibility it was to raise and educate them, namely there. The older generation are the ones who must educate young people and create the new generation, so if they are so unhappy with the youth, they can just look back at themselves, as not did their jobs with raising the young well enough. Youth in Denmark and youth in the UK and the USA are not so different, the young people look a lot like each other on some points. They all party and go out to have fun and drink alcohol. In UK the youth also drink a lot, but not as much as the DK youth drink. They drink a lot more and they go out and drinking in younger age, but it also legally for DK and UK youth to drink in an age of 18, compared with the 21 they have to be in USA. Smoking are also something they do in all 3 countries, but in DK youth, the girls and boys mostly just smokes regular cigarettes, compared with the two other countries where especially the boys like smoking cannabis. In Denmark the young people grow up in a way that makes them more independent quickly, where UK and USA youth rely on their parents longer because of curfews and rules that forces parents to raise their children in a hole other way than in DK. In terms of the social media is all countries equally well with and have all the same electronic equipment that they all use so much time on and follows them everywhere. Crime and violence are a bigger problem in the UK and the U. S. than in Denmark, it is everywhere and many young people have intentions were guilty or victims for crime or violence in the two countries, against the little we meet in DK, so we can safely feel much more safe. Overweight is also something we meet in all three countries, in particular in the USA, the problem is large, how many people have obesitys diseases, it probably depends on all the fast food we meet over there. Youth in all three countries are very similar and there are better and worse things in each country compared with each other, but from everything I know, have heard and learned about the three countries, is Denmark still my favorite country and I like it here.
